BUSINESS NEWS

  • Verallia and Penn State have announced a research partnership to test LionGlass — a new glass that melts at temperatures up to 400 degrees lower than traditional glass and cuts carbon emissions — for use in consumer packaging. The collaboration will determine if the energy savings and improved durability of LionGlass can lower the carbon footprint of bottled beverages.  Penn State

CULTURE NEWS

Allen Street.  Penn State

  • Researchers at Penn State proposed a new battery design that uses a thin nickel foil heater—this change helps lithium-ion batteries work well in very cold or very hot weather. The design can expand the operating range from -50 to 75 C and may lower the need for bulky external systems in tools like electric vehicles and data centers.  Penn State
  • On Nov. 5, Penn State recognized 19 staff in its 'We Are!' feature for exceeding their regular duties in areas from athletics to IT. The honorees' work in communications, maintenance, and other roles supports the University and strengthens its commitment to service—making a lasting impact for the community.  Penn State
  • Students from Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences went to Rome for the World Food Forum held Oct. 10 to 17 at the FAO headquarters; the group was the college’s first student academic delegation to join the Youth Assembly. They learned about global food sustainability, including ethical AI use for food safety, and discussed strategies for improved water management and food access — insights that may guide future local initiatives.  Penn State
