Good morning, State College.
Verallia and Penn State have announced a research partnership to test LionGlass — a new glass that melts at temperatures up to 400 degrees lower than traditional glass and cuts carbon emissions — for use in consumer packaging.
The collaboration will determine if the energy savings and improved durability of LionGlass can lower the carbon footprint of bottled beverages.
On Nov. 12, the College of Art and Architecture’s Woskob Family Gallery will host Pour Paint and Poppies, a neuroarts workshop honoring Medal of Honor recipient Michael P.

Researchers at Penn State proposed a new battery design that uses a thin nickel foil heater—this change helps lithium-ion batteries work well in very cold or very hot weather.
The design can expand the operating range from -50 to 75 C and may lower the need for bulky external systems in tools like electric vehicles and data centers.
On Nov. 5, Penn State recognized 19 staff in its 'We Are!' feature for exceeding their regular duties in areas from athletics to IT.

Students from Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences went to Rome for the World Food Forum held Oct.

Today from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Bobby and Sara Hricko from Green’s Fruit Farm will hold a free talk at the Downtown State College Improvement District discussing eco-friendly farming methods that support economic, social (and environmental) sustainability (practical strategies to protect the land for future generations).

The team’s postseason fate will be decided when the NCAA Tournament Selection Show airs on November 10.
Penn State women's basketball will face Cincinnati at 6 p.m. on Friday at Rec Hall as the Lady Lions—fresh off a win over Bucknell—aim to build on their strong start while testing Cincinnati's backcourt.
This matchup will set the pace for the season as both teams try to secure an early win.
Penn State beat Fairfield 76-68 on Monday, and coach Mike Rhoades said the team's depth and Melih Tunca’s 19-point debut helped overcome an early deficit—Tunca, still recovering from an ankle sprain, added energy off the bench.
He noted during Wednesday's press conference that the squad practiced to build bonding and flexible lineups ahead of their weekend game against New Haven.
On Wednesday, redshirt sophomore tight end Joey Schlaffer left Penn State’s team after James Franklin’s firing—he played in three games, with one catch for a 19-yard touchdown, and he remains eligible for the January transfer portal.
Other tight ends stay on the roster to maintain depth at the position.
Penn State Athletics confirmed that tight end Joey Schlaffer is no longer on the football roster as of Wednesday morning.
