COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Wednesday evening, Alpha Fire Company escorted Santa Claus through State College neighborhoods during its Christmas Eve Santa Run, with a convoy of trucks decked out with lights + decorations; volunteers helped track his route and handed out treats as the event ended at the main station on 400 W. Beaver Ave.  StateCollege.com

BUSINESS NEWS

  • State College native Todd Hawbaker has turned his journaling hobby into Ink & Timber Pens, a part-time business that crafts custom wooden pens with colorful resin and wood from various sources. He sells his work at local craft shows, including the Central PA Festival of the Arts, and online.  StateCollege.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State football defensive end Daniel Jennings is no longer with the team and will seek a new opportunity. The true freshman, who reclassified and did not play this season, now plans to explore other options at the program based in State College.  Onward State
  • Three-star linebacker Keian Kaiser (from Sidney, Nebraska) announced his commitment to join the Nittany Lions Class of 2026 on Wednesday morning and becomes the program’s ninth commit under coach Matt Campbell.  Onward State
  • Penn State women's volleyball has added transfer Ryla Jones from Pitt. Jones recorded nine kills plus nine blocks in her final tournament at Pitt and will join the team next season between Kennedy Martin and Emmi Sellman.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State's defensive end Zuriah Fisher was removed from the team's roster on Wednesday after opting out of the upcoming Pinstripe Bowl against Clemson. He is the latest player to opt out, which may open opportunities for underclassmen to see more playing time during the game.  StateCollege.com
  • Outside hitter Whitney Lauenstein (a redshirt senior from Texas) posted on Instagram that she is transferring to Penn State women’s volleyball and will join fellow transfers for the upcoming season.  Onward State
  • Former Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons (sidelined with a torn ACL) earned his fifth Pro Bowl nod while Baltimore punter Jordan Stout received his first selection. The NFL event will air on ESPN on Tuesday, Feb. 3 and feature coaches Steve Young and Jerry Rice.  Onward State
  • Pitt middle blocker Ryla Jones transferred to Penn State women's volleyball and joined fellow transfer Alexis Stucky after posting her decision on Instagram on Wednesday. She compiled 107 kills and 98 blocks in 83 sets at Pitt last season.  Onward State
