- ➤ University Baptist and Brethren Church welcomed its new pastor, Rev. Jeremy Richards (installed this summer) and will host its annual Alternative Christmas Fair on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 411 S. Burrowes St. StateCollege.com

- ➤ Penn State Extension released a survey showing that nearly two-thirds of customers regularly shop at Pennsylvania farmers markets with an average spend of over $31 per visit, and it recommends adding prepared food options and loyalty programs to boost sales. Penn State

- ➤ The Penn State Institute for Computational and Data Sciences' Quantum Hub has awarded Quantum SuperSEED grants to three faculty research teams at Penn State. The hub is investing over $500,000 in projects that will use quantum computing, simulations & materials science to spark new research directions. Penn State
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Researchers at Penn State found that the extinction of dinosaurs reshaped North America — dense forests replaced widespread floods, as shown by changes in rock layers. The study compared areas before and after the event to reveal new insights on how life transformed the landscape. Penn State

- ➤ Penn State wrestlers crushed the Drexel Dragons 43-3 Friday night at the Daskalakis Athletic Center in Philadelphia. The team will host Lehigh at 1 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 7) at Rec Hall with the match available for streaming on B1G. StateCollege.com
- ➤ Multiple reports indicate that Penn State will keep interim coach Terry Smith on staff under new head coach Matt Campbell, who was hired to lead the Nittany Lions. Smith agreed to a four-year deal after taking over midseason, and players & fans continue to support him. StateCollege.com
- ➤ Penn State hired head coach Matt Campbell and he is expected to target Iowa State players to fill roster needs for 2026. The list of potential recruits includes quarterback Rocco Becht and running backs Carson Hansen and Abu Sama III (among others). StateCollege.com
- ➤ Penn State women’s volleyball beat USF 3-1 at Gregory Gymnasium in Austin on Friday night to extend their NCAA win streak to 27 — they now face the winner of Texas and Florida A&M today at 7:30 p.m. Onward State
- ➤ Penn State women's volleyball, which has appeared in every NCAA Tournament for 45 years, played its No. 8 seed first-round matchup on Friday at University of Texas and may face No. 1 Texas later today if they won. The team enters with returning veterans and recruits after a turbulent season. StateCollege.com
- ➤ Penn State women's soccer star Kaitlyn MacBean became a repeat Fourth Team United Soccer Coaches All American on Friday, joining just 11 others in school history. She will be honored at the All-America Ceremony & Reception in Philadelphia on Saturday, Jan. 17. Onward State
