SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State tight end Andrew Rappleyea had a strong game on Saturday when he caught a 53-yard touchdown pass and finished with four catches for 75 yards in a 40—36 win over Rutgers. He said he feels he is at the top of his game as he takes on a larger role in the offense.  Daily Collegian
  • No. 25 Penn State women’s volleyball ended its regular season with a four-set win over Iowa on Saturday night. The team will make its 45th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and learn its opponent at (6 p.m. today).  Onward State
  • Penn State quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer helped the team earn bowl eligibility after stepping in for an injured starter—he threw 1079 yards and six touchdowns in six games. He looks to meet the new head coach before the upcoming bowl game—his future role will be shaped by that discussion.  Onward State
  • Penn State men’s basketball beat Sacred Heart 90-59 Saturday evening at the Bryce Jordan Center using strong offense that forced 24 turnovers—Ivan Jurić and Kayden Mingo led the game with 14 and 13 points respectively. The team will face Campbell Tuesday at 6 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.  Onward State
  • Penn State finished its final regular season game with a win over Rutgers. Football reporters noted that Nick Singleton broke team records for total and rushing touchdowns — although the defense allowed its highest points against Rutgers.  Daily Collegian
