- ➤ The Cannizzaro Christmas Tree Shoppe—located next to Meyer Dairy on S. Atherton St.—has marked 40 years as a family-run holiday tradition that brings Centre County families together with locally grown trees and handmade pine wreaths. The shop opened on Nov. 16 and typically runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, continuing a local tradition passed down through generations. StateCollege.com
- ➤ Volunteers and staff at the Arboretum at Penn State harvested a record 2,872 pounds of produce that was donated to the State College Food Bank to help secure food for Centre County. Aubrey Tallon said the new total tops the previous record (2,116 pounds in 2023) and shows the strong community ties built through volunteering. StateCollege.com
- ➤ A former trustee said an internal review found treatment mistakes at the Cancer Institute — including chemotherapy overdoses and delays that let cancers spread — and that director Raymond Hohl resigned a day after the report came out. - ➤ Penn State will re-open the renovated Pollock Computer Lab at 5 p.m. on Dec. 2 at University Park—featuring a 72-seat classroom and a 53-seat lab with new amenities like adjustable height desks and mobile whiteboards. The lab will be open 24/7—though from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. only those with a valid ID can enter. Penn State
- ➤ IST Research Talks will feature associate teaching professors Betsy Campbell and Nicklaus Giacobe on Dec. 4 at Westgate Building at University Park. Campbell will discuss her practice theory approach to the digital future while Giacobe will share his research in cybersecurity education—both talks set to highlight interdisciplinary work in the College of Information Sciences and Technology. - ➤ Scientist Christina Lopano will deliver a free talk at 4 p.m. on Dec. 1 in 112 Walker Building at Penn State to explain how to recover critical minerals from coal waste — the presentation will also stream live via Zoom. Penn State

- ➤ Penn State special teams coordinator Justin Lustig was nominated on Tuesday for the Broyles Award (an honor for the best assistant coach in college football) after he helped boost kicker Ryan Barker’s stats and tied a team record with a punt fake against Nebraska; it marks his second nomination (first with Syracuse in 2018). - ➤ The Penn State women’s volleyball team will travel to the Midwest this weekend to play No. 1 Nebraska on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Lincoln and Iowa on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Coralville — after wins against Michigan State and Maryland, they aim to finish the regular season strong. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Former Penn State football commit Julian Peterson has switched his commitment to North Carolina—he decommitted from Penn State on October 22 and becomes the second former Penn State cornerback commit to join the Tar Heels. Onward State
- ➤ Interim head coach Terry Smith met with the media Wednesday in Holuba Hall and said freshman Chaz Coleman is a game-time decision after returning to practice; he stressed the team's focus on beating Rutgers on Saturday to secure a bowl berth.
