- ➤ U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson announced on Tuesday that two Centre County emergency services received $2.17M in federal funding — Moshannon Valley EMS will build a new 9,350-square-foot facility on the former Philipsburg Hospital site in Rush Township and Howard Fire Company will replace its 25-year-old rescue jet boat — to support better emergency response. - ➤ Penn State women's hockey players Tessa Janeke and Danica Maynard earned weekly AHA awards for their roles in the road sweep of RIT; Janeke received Forward of the Week and Maynard was named Defenseman of the Week for the third time this season. - ➤ Penn State redshirt freshman quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer has improved his play by slowing his pace and making better decisions in his three starts. - ➤ Gabriel Nwosu, a fifth-year senior punter and kickoff specialist at Penn State, is working toward a one-year MBA after earning both a bachelor’s and a master’s in supply chain management; he plans to start an NFL career after the season (with strong support from his academic advisers). - ➤ Penn State football special teams coach Justin Lustig was nominated for the national Broyles Award Tuesday as one of 63 candidates after he helped kicker Ryan Barker post high percentages on field goals and extra points and record three blocked punts this season. - ➤ Penn State men's basketball bounced back Tuesday night at Bryce Jordan Center by defeating Boston University 96–87 after their loss to Providence last weekend, with five players scoring in double figures and leaders Josh Reed and Ivan Jurić rising to the challenge.
