- ➤ Penn State and Italian glassmaker Bormioli Luigi signed an agreement to continue the LionGlass project after a trial in Murano showed the sustainable glass melts at lower temperatures and is strong for cosmetics packaging—further tests will refine its quality. Penn State

- ➤ Penn State Professor S. Nageeb Ali has been named a fellow of the Econometric Society — one of 25 new fellows honored for advancing economic theory. He joins six other department faculty and was selected by his peers in recognition of his research on voting behavior and consumer data privacy. Penn State
- ➤ At its meeting on Wednesday, the University Park Undergraduate Association voted to support Penn State’s Lionettes Dance Team after the team’s funding was cut. - ➤ President Neeli Bendapudi visited the College of Agricultural Sciences to highlight a new program that gives ag students hands-on training with a methane-powered tractor — one of only two in the country — in partnership with CNH Industrial. - ➤ Penn State's Center for Socially Responsible Artificial Intelligence announced the Teach-a-thon contest for faculty to show new ways to adapt teaching with AI; the virtual event will run until Feb. 1 and offers prizes from $3,000 for first place to $500 for honorable mentions. - ➤ Penn State Climate Consortium has announced a call for breakout session proposals for the 2026 Climate Solutions Symposium at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center with proposals due by Jan. 23. - ➤ During home football games this season, Penn State students called Tailgate Ambassadors help fans recycle bottles (using blue bags) and collect shakers to be turned into recycled plastic lumber. The program is a collaboration between PepsiCo, Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics and the Office of Physical Plant that also offers trivia games to educate tailgaters on sustainable practices.
