  • Robert 'Pete' Lauck and Paul Grove, two 100-year-old Centre County veterans, shared their World War II service and post-war lives as they recalled key battles and moments that shaped their long careers in community and family life—demonstrating a local legacy that informs our shared history.   • The Rivet Winter Market will be held on Nov. 15 and Nov. 16 at 1224 N. Atherton St. (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) where over 70 local vendors, food trucks, live kids' music and craft stations will offer unique gifts and fun activities (free shuttles and entry support local makers and STEM learning).  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State held its annual Veterans Day ceremony on November 11 in Heritage Hall at the HUB-Robeson Center as part of Military Appreciation Week—shifted indoors due to weather—for about 150 attendees. The event honored veterans by featuring speeches from community members and retired Air Force Lt. Col. Christopher Sebora and ended with Taps and a wreath laying at the Veterans Plaza.  Daily Collegian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Chaiken Center at Penn State will host 'Plan Your Pomo' study sessions led by peer success coaches to help students prepare for finals. The sessions run from 5 to 7 p.m.—on November 18, 19 and 20 at Boucke Building and December 2, 3 and 4 at Dewey Room, and students may join without registering.  Penn State
  • Penn State will launch its 11th GivingTuesday celebration on Dec. 1 at 6:55 p.m. ET and conclude at midnight Dec. 2 to honor its founding year. The event will feature nearly 200 campaigns—including a record 70 student-led efforts—and a live virtual session on Dec. 2 from noon to 1 p.m.  Penn State

  • Mayor Ezra Nanes issued a proclamation Monday to mark November 29 as Small Business Saturday in State College — his action aims to support local retailers and service providers facing economic challenges.  Daily Collegian
  • Mayor Ezra Nanes issued a proclamation on Monday that recognized November as International Education Month to show how international learning brings people together in our community—Penn State’s senior official Sabine Klahr said the university received the Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization to honor its global work.  Daily Collegian

HEALTH NEWS

  • Researchers at Penn State found that a rare stress-sensitive neuron helps control blood flow and neural activity in mice brains. Eliminating these neurons reduced brain function and may point to stress as an environmental factor in neurodegenerative diseases+the team plans further study to see if these findings apply to human health.  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State wrestling holds the No. 1 spot in the NWCA Coaches Poll as the team prepares to face No. 18 Oklahoma at the Bryce Jordan Center this Friday. After head coach Cael Sanderson's Tuesday press conference, two wrestlers at 141 pounds are expected to redshirt while two-time All-American Tyler Kasak is projected to redshirt at 157 pounds to give way to true freshman PJ Duke.  Onward State
  • Penn State women's basketball coach Carolyn Kieger spoke on Zoom after a 2-0 start, saying the team must improve defense and reduce turnovers as it prepares for today's game against Coppin State — she also discussed a new coach's review rule and on-court tactics for live play.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State beat Navy 80-71 on Tuesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College, marking their first meeting in 40 years and advancing them to a 3-0 record — the team led most of the game with key plays from top scorers. The Nittany Lions will face La Salle on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a neutral-site matchup.  StateCollege.com
  • Before Penn State's first dual against Oklahoma today, several ranking adjustments reshaped the weight classes. Luke Lilledahl remains No. 3 at 125 and Aaron Nagao is now No. 11 at 141 while a representative at 133 is still pending and Tyler Kasak is expected to redshirt at 157—further altering the lineup ahead of the match.  Daily Collegian
