CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Today, the 7th Centre Film Festival began in State College with a search for a lost slice of pizza and will run until November 16 in Philipsburg with films showing all day every day. The weeklong event includes filmmaker Q&A sessions and an awards ceremony at the Rowland Theater—honoring local and international talent. StateCollege.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Penn State’s Board of Trustees approved the university’s new strategic plan and several capital projects during meetings from Nov. 6 to Nov. 7 at University Park—actions that aim to boost student success, research, health care, and campus facilities. - ➤ Nick Singleton played well on Saturday against Indiana by running 71 yards and scoring three touchdowns — his 59-yard run lifted the Penn State offense and brings him closer to breaking the school record for rushing touchdowns. - ➤ Line Mountain won the District 4 1A football title on Friday with a 20-14 win over Montgomery at Glenn Ressler Field + a Kaiden Maurer touchdown pass to Bryce Smeltz in the fourth quarter secured the Eagles’ victory. PennLive
- ➤ Penn State announced that gifted freshman Chaz Coleman is out for today's game at Beaver Stadium — Jaxon Smolik and Owen Wafle are also ruled out while true freshman quarterback Bekkem Kritza remains questionable. - ➤ Penn State basketball will travel to New Haven on Saturday at 1 p.m. to face the Chargers at the Hazell Center—a move that is part of a scheduling deal to secure multiple future nonconference games and save money, coach Mike Rhoades said.
