- ➤ The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau honored Centre County hospitality and tourism leaders on Wednesday in Bellefonte—over 300 local figures attended the fourth annual awards event with winners recognized across seven categories, including a special honor for Celesta Powell. Fritz Smith said the event celebrated a record year for tourism that boosted the county’s visitor economy. StateCollege.com
- ➤ The Penn State and State College communities are joining the Annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive—an event hosted by the Civic Engagement Alliance and Student Leadership and Involvement to support local families in need. - ➤ The township’s planning commission recommended final approval of a land development plan for Fillmore Market and Cafe at 2781 Buffalo Run Road, where the old general store will be demolished and replaced by a new 3,330-square-foot building with drive-through + outdoor seating and parking. - ➤ On November 5th, Penn State Smeal College of Business launched a comprehensive artificial intelligence initiative—designed to boost business education and research—to equip students with new technology skills for a changing work environment. Penn State
- ➤ Researchers at Penn State and international colleagues used table salt to form niobium disulfide into metallic nanotubes that show stable properties—this breakthrough may lead to faster electronics, superconducting wires and quantum devices in the future. Penn State

- ➤ Researchers at Penn State surveyed 18 (abandoned) oil and gas wells near the Allegheny National Forest and found they leak methane into groundwater (raising levels of metals like iron and arsenic). Penn State

- ➤ Students can learn stress management techniques at Flourish Fest on November 13 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall at HUB-Robeson Center, where hands-on stations offer activities like creating a Mind Jar and building a terrarium — the drop-in event will also feature free resources, snacks and giveaways. - ➤ Penn State men’s hockey forwards JJ Wiebusch and Matt DiMarsico were added to the U.S. Collegiate Selects team for the Spengler Cup in Davos—joining four other Nittany Lions as they prepare for the tournament starting Dec. 26. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State field hockey senior Sophia Mannino earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors for her final season after playing in 13 games with one goal and one assist. She helped her team finish 7 to 10 after a loss to Rutgers and served as a key defender in 67 career games. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State women's volleyball player Kennedy Martin was named one of 14 finalists for the AVCA National Player of the Year award, marking her second straight season as a semifinalist. She averages 5.24 kills and 6.05 points per set with a .309 hitting percentage and 35 service aces, and she will face Purdue today at 5:30 p.m. Onward State
- ➤ Penn State men’s hockey players JJ Wiebusch and Gavin McKenna received national awards in October, with Wiebusch named National Co-Forward of the Month and McKenna named National Rookie of the Month; they are the first Penn Staters honored since Aiden Fink in 2023 and will face Michigan State today at 7 p.m. on Big Ten Plus in East Lansing.
