- ➤ Boal City Brewing in Boalsburg launched its Purple Pinkie Pale Ale on Oct. 15 to support the Rotary’s second annual Pints Against Polio campaign with proceeds funding the End Polio effort. - ➤ The Palmer Museum of Art at the College of Arts and Architecture at Penn State has announced a call for entries for its juried exhibition, Dreaming American Futures: Invitational 250, to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. The exhibition will run from summer through fall and accepts submissions from Penn State students, staff, alumni, and local artists within a 50-mile radius of State College—digital entries are due Feb. 15 with notifications by March 15. - ➤ Penn State’s Counseling and Psychological Services received the PA CARES designation from the Pennsylvania Department of Education—ensuring students have access to mental health and suicide prevention resources, a move that highlights the institution’s commitment to student well-being. - ➤ Michael Doncheski, chief academic officer at Penn State Mont Alto, has been named interim special assistant in the Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses to work with campus chancellors and teams in managing academic changes and campus closures. - ➤ Researchers from NASA and Penn State found that fragments of proteins from E. coli remain intact for over 50 million years in pure water ice when exposed to simulated Mars conditions. - ➤ Former Penn State football tight end and current Cincinnati Bengal Mike Gesicki was placed on injured reserve after he suffered a pectoral injury in Sunday's game against the Packers.
