EDUCATION NEWS

  • Teaching and Learning with Technology, IT Learning and Development, and Penn State IT will host a weeklong event from Sept 29 to Oct 3 at the Dreamery in the Shields Building — the event offers faculty and staff hands-on workshops and panel sessions on a new platform each day. The schedule starts with TopHat on Sept 29 and continues with sessions on LinkedIn Learning, VoiceThread, Microsoft 365, and virtual office hours.  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State women's soccer defeated Liberty 3-0 on Sunday in Lynchburg—scoring three goals in the second half. They will face Maryland at Jeffrey Field on Thursday, September 11 at 6 p.m. as they begin Big Ten play.  Onward State
  • The No. 5 Penn State women's volleyball team ended their three-game losing streak by sweeping New Hampshire 3 to 0 at Rec Hall on Sunday—Maggie Mendelson led with early kills and plays that set the stage for their next game against Bucknell on Tuesday at 7 p.m.  Onward State
  • Linebacker Tony Rojas had 10 tackles in Penn State's 34-0 win over FIU Saturday, marking a strong return from injury—he said on Aug. 27 he was back and feeling great and plans to build his role this season.  Daily Collegian
  • On Sunday, Penn State field hockey beat No. 9 St. Joseph’s 2 to 1 in overtime to secure its second straight win — Olivia Martins scored the game-winning goal — and the team will prepare to host Bucknell on Friday, September 12.  Onward State
  • After two games this season, Penn State’s special teams showed strong improvement with kicker Ryan Barker converting field goals and punter Gabe Nwosu boosting field position — returners King Mack and Devonte Ross also made key plays. Coach James Franklin said the unit’s depth and performance could help win games as they build momentum.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State’s new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles boosted the team’s play in two games where the defense recorded 18 tackles for loss, five sacks and two interceptions. Coaches and players said practice helped them read plays and they will work to play faster in upcoming games — expecting to build on these early wins.  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State's football team stayed at No.2 after a 34-0 win over FIU in Week 3 of the AP poll—Ohio State holds first place, Oregon moved up two spots, Michigan dropped eight places, and Missouri entered the top 25.  Daily Collegian
