COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Over the summer, Penn State experienced major changes including fraternity suspensions due to hazing, new board appointments, the closure of several Commonwealth Campuses, restaurant openings, and a tuition increase as the school prepared for fall.   • School bus drivers in Centre County start early every morning by checking their buses and picking up students for a safe ride—building strong bonds with kids and families—while facing challenges like busy routes and bad weather.  StateCollege.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State men’s hockey student tickets will go on sale at 7 a.m. on September 18. The team said additional details and instructions will be released closer to the sale date — the program is set for one of its most anticipated seasons.  Onward State
  • Former Penn State players took part in NFL preseason games as teams prepared for the regular season — Pat Freiermuth started for the Steelers, Kobe King made four tackles for the Vikings, and defensive end Chop Robinson sacked a quarterback on Aug. 23 in Miami Gardens.  StateCollege.com
  • Coach K said the Nittany Lions feel ready to face Nevada in their season opener—despite Nevada's low ranking—and will focus on playing their best to prepare for difficult road games against teams like Oregon and Ohio State later in the season.  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State played Army at West Point and lost 2-1 after struggling with its offense—Army scored its two goals before a late Penn State effort made the score 2-1. The loss follows a previous 2-1 win over Stetson, leaving the Nittany Lions 1-1 on the season.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State will project its defensive lineup for the 2025 season with Zane Durant and Alonzo Ford Jr. starting at tackle, Dani Dennis-Sutton and Zuriah Fisher at defensive end, and Tony Rojas with newcomer Amare Campbell at linebacker—combining returning upperclassmen with promising new talent for a strong defense.  Onward State
