- ➤ Penn State University Police advises new and returning students to practice campus safety this fall by locking doors—students must sign up for PSUAlert and learn how to contact police for quick help in emergencies. Penn State
- ➤ Many students and their families arrived downtown for move-in, and State College Borough officials lifted overnight parking restrictions—helping manage heavy traffic and long wait times as students prepare for classes next week. WTAJ
- ➤ Penn State Advanced Vehicle Team placed fourth overall in the AutoDrive Challenge II competition that ran from June 1 to 7 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor—sponsored by SAE International and General Motors, the team excelled in static, dynamic, and localization challenges. The team will recruit new members at a fall involvement fair on Sept. 2 at the HUB Robeson Center Lawn and at a new member meeting on Sept. 4 at 258 Willard Building. Penn State

- ➤ Biomedical researchers at Penn State developed CitraBoneQMg—an implantable biodegradable scaffold made of magnesium, glutamine and citric acid—to speed up bone healing in complex fractures. The study in Science Advances showed that rat tests had a 56% increase in nearby bone growth compared to a scaffold without added nutrients. Penn State
- ➤ A Penn State team led by a researcher has developed a sensor that checks breath acetone to diagnose diabetes quickly—researchers plan to improve its use by fitting it inside a mask. The device can read a breath sample in minutes and may soon help spot diabetes on site. Penn State

- ➤ Penn State men’s soccer started its 2025 season in State College on Thursday with a 2 to 0 win over Stetson—Caden Grabfelder scored first with a 25-yard shot and then converted a free kick to extend the lead. Head coach Jeff Cook used a four-four-two formation and the team will face Army West Point at 6 p.m. Sunday. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Phil Steele said Penn State’s offensive line is the nation’s best heading into the 2025 season and compared them with the great teams from 1981 and 1994—he praised guard Vega Ioane for earning many preseason All-American honors.
