EDUCATION NEWS

  • Penn State released a new free guide that helps locals learn to identify over 440 bee species in Pennsylvania and understand their traits—this publication features clear descriptions, photos, and a detailed table made by entomology experts. The guide is available in print and online and aims to support learning about local biodiversity.  Penn State
  • Matt Miller, a Penn State alumnus and principal at Roundtown Elementary School, is named Pennsylvania’s National Distinguished Principal for 2025 by the Pennsylvania Principals Association—he will be honored at awards ceremonies later this year.  Penn State

HEALTH NEWS

  • A team of Penn State researchers made a wearable sensor that uses a hydrogel design—tracking chloride levels in sweat in real time—to help find signs of cystic fibrosis. It was tested during exercise and showed very accurate results that offer a reusable, low-cost tool for health checks.  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wide receiver Koby Howard impressed Penn State coaches at fall camp with a game-winning catch and strong work ethic, and he is expected to boost the team’s rotation this season — his performance has drawn high praise from his mentors. His progress in practice suggests that he will soon compete for more playing time, adding to growing optimism about his future contributions.  Daily Collegian
  • Today, Penn State Athletics Director Pat Kraft said Beaver Stadium will have temporary seating installed by In Production—its safety reviewed by a structural engineer and an independent third party. The new seating will be added to the Marzano Club Level, Main Concourse, and the field corners, reducing total capacity by just over 70 seats for the upcoming season.  ABC 23
  • Penn State is set to boost its offense in year two under offensive coordinator Kotelnicki who stayed with the team after turning down a West Virginia job.   • Penn State men’s soccer returns to Jeffrey Field today as the Nittany Lions look to rebound from a tough 2024 season that saw the team finish last in conference play and miss the Big Ten Tournament.
