EDUCATION NEWS

  • Penn State’s Sibel Irmak—research professor of agricultural and biological engineering—received the IDEA Award from ASABE in Toronto for her efforts in mentoring young scientists and supporting underrepresented students.  Penn State
  • Twin sisters Abby and Olivia Kayani graduated from the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State with psychology degrees — a milestone that reflects their strong partnership built through leadership roles and rigorous study. They now participate in a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic as they work toward careers in medicine — continuing the journey they started on campus.  Penn State
  • Penn State’s Ag Progress Days will feature nearly 500 exhibits—crop displays, machinery demos, and safety presentations—for agriculture enthusiasts. The free expo runs from Aug. 12 to Aug. 14 at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center on Route 45 southwest of State College.  Penn State
  • Penn State College of Education ended its four-week Summer College Opportunity Program in Education when 13 high school students gave their final research presentations at the Krause Innovation Studio at University Park. The talks covered key education issues (mental health and bias among others) and drew family, friends and school staff.  Penn State
  • Penn State suspended Sigma Pi for hazing on July 17 for at least four years — the fraternity now operates as an unrecognized group unaffiliated with the university.  Daily Collegian
  • Donna Korzick has led graduate training at the Huck Institutes since 2021 and built programs that help faculty and students with simpler grant processes and mentoring on T32 proposals. Her work has boosted funding, added new courses for career skills, and supported over 100 trainees—paving the way for future research careers.  Penn State

  • Former Penn State tight end Tyler Warren is learning new ways to play at Colts training camp where he wears a new number and makes impressive one-handed catches. He showed his skill in recent practice and the team will test him further at a joint practice with the Ravens Tuesday — he looks forward to proving himself.  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State head coach James Franklin said running back Kaytron Allen — enjoying his first healthy offseason — is set to lead the team and challenge the all-time rushing record alongside Nick Singleton, who shares most of the carries.  PennLive
