EDUCATION NEWS

  • On July 17, Penn State honored 21 staff members for going above and beyond in their work at the University. The 'We Are!' feature celebrated individuals from academic advising to facilities maintenance — recognizing a range of contributions.  Penn State
  • Penn State hosted its first Student Success Unconference recently at the Susan Welch Liberal Arts Building, where student success professionals from every college met to shape their own agenda. Educators, advisers and staff broke into discussion groups—addressing topics like at-risk students and resource uptake—with plans to compile session summaries for future collaboration.  Penn State
  • Penn State broke its annual fundraising record in the fiscal year ending June 30 by collecting over half a billion dollars, with $369.5 million in cash and gifts from more than 235,000 donors. The university will use these funds on projects like Beaver Stadium improvements — and on student programs as it prepares to launch a new campaign in 2026.  Penn State

HEALTH NEWS

  • Visitors to the Family Room building at Ag Progress Days will learn healthy habits from Penn State Extension educators who will show safe food practices, fitness tips, digital skills, and pest management—while the WellSpan Mobile Health Clinic offers free health information. The event runs Aug. 12–14 at the agricultural research center with free admission and parking for all.  Penn State

  • Penn State wrestler Luke Lilledahl earned a gold medal at the Budapest Ranking Series on July 17th after defeating Islam Bazarganov 3-1 at 57 kilograms. The rising sophomore—who won the U20 World Championship in 2024 and the World Silver Medal in 2023—boosted his record for Team USA.  Daily Collegian
  • Former Penn State soccer player Olivia Smith signed a four-year deal with Arsenal on July 17 for a record-breaking fee of 1 million euros + she transferred from Liverpool after playing 16 games in the 2022-23 season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State Athletics announced new season ticket options for the 2025 football season at Beaver Stadium—tickets are in sections NE201-203 and SE201-203, located in the northeast and southeast decks—and the $705 non-renewable tickets will give buyers priority for next year's general sale as renovations continue.  Onward State
  • Penn State women’s volleyball coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance at the ESPYS in Los Angeles on July 16 — receiving a standing ovation after leading her team to a national championship while battling stage 2 breast cancer. In her remarks, she thanked her family, players and doctors — urging everyone not to give up.  StateCollege.com
