CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Ferguson Township man Larry J. Brickhouse, 51, was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in state prison on Friday by Judge Julia Rater after a grand jury investigation tied him to a high-level drug trafficking network that moved heroin, fentanyl and cocaine from New Jersey to the State College area — prosecutors said. - ➤ The Phi Beta Sigma Lambda Lambda chapter was charged with conspiracy organizational hazing after leaders reportedly physically punished and mentally abused pledges—pretrial hearings are scheduled for Aug. 13 and Sept. 15 as investigations continue. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Karston Chan, 22, of Montgomery County, was arraigned on charges of unlawful restraint, simple assault, and invasion of privacy after he reportedly struck, restrained, and recorded a woman during a sexual encounter in a University Park dorm room last fall (a preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 27), according to Penn State police. - ➤ Larry Brickhouse, a Centre County man aged 51, was sentenced on July 11 to 15-30 years in prison after a three-day trial for trafficking heroin, fentanyl and cocaine from New Jersey to State College+ he was part of a network led by the now-deceased Larry David. WTAJ

- ➤ A new pitch proposes a Love Island spinoff set on campus that uses familiar local spots—like the Nittany Lion Shrine, HUB lawn gazebo, and Hideaway Speakeasy—as dramatic backdrops for challenges and recoupling moments. The plan names college host Katie Feeney to guide contestants while university president Neeli Bendapudi will host a twerk-off challenge that adds high stakes to the college twist on the hit show.
