- ➤ State College Police are asking for help after a black 2011 Harley Davidson Super Glide (plate 6VM27) was stolen from a neighborhood on the 700 block of Bellaire Avenue on June 24, and officers are following leads based on public tips. WTAJ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Professor Charles T. Anderson has been named chair of the intercollege graduate program in plant biology at the Huck Institutes, succeeding Teh-hui Kao who led the program for 26 years. Anderson will expand faculty and coordinate training grant applications as he takes charge of 44 graduate students and prepares to welcome new trainees in August—he has mentored many students since joining the program in 2012. - ➤ Professor Scott Selleck of Penn State is researching early cell repair changes that could help stop Alzheimer’s and other brain diseases. His team found that partially blocking heparan sulfate proteins — which slow repair — improved cell function in animal models and may lead to new treatments. Penn State
- ➤ Penn State Agricultural Safety and Health Program released its annual Pennsylvania Farm Fatal Injury Summary for 2024, noting 19 deaths across 16 counties in the state.
