- ➤ Amazon announced it will invest $4 billion and expand its next-day and same-day delivery network to cover 4,000 cities, towns, and rural communities by the end of 2025, meaning rural areas in Central Pennsylvania may soon receive same-day delivery of everyday essentials. The company will upgrade rural delivery stations into hybrid hubs—using artificial intelligence to keep popular items like batteries and fruit snacks in stock. WTAJ

- ➤ Three Penn State faculty—Jill Hamilton, Wenrui Hao and Gustavo Nader—were named as the 2025-26 Huck Leadership Fellows, and they will join a yearlong professional development program to lead projects in ecosystem science, mathematics and kinesiology. Penn State
- ➤ Ten interdisciplinary research teams at Penn State have received seed grants from the Institute of Energy and the Environment to support early-stage research on energy and environmental challenges. - ➤ Researchers from Penn State found that objective fitness tests predict college students’ heart health better than self-reported activity, as they analyzed data from 1,418 students using measurements like cardiorespiratory fitness and hand grip strength — tests that offer a more accurate view of cardiometabolic risk. - ➤ A firework bursting on July 4 at 9 a.m. will start the Firecracker 4K, a 2.48-mile race that opens a day of patriotic fun with parades, live music, food, and fireworks. Race director Denny Myers said nearly 800 families and runners joined last year — local volunteers are still needed for water stations and safety roles. StateCollege.com
- ➤ Penn State men's basketball received a pledge from international prospect Tibor Mirtič, a 6 ft 8 in forward who played five seasons in the ABA League & averaged 11.5 points per game for KK Krka. - ➤ Penn State men’s basketball has secured a commitment from Slovenian forward Tibor Mirtic, a 22-year-old who played last season for KK Krka. - ➤ Penn State athletics named wrestling's Carter Starocci and volleyball's Jess Mruzik as the 2024-25 athletes of the year on Monday after a historic season.
