CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, Tempest Studios at 140 Kelly Alley in Downtown State College presents 'Twelfth Night: Love is Love is Love,' a witty play of mistaken identities and love inspired by Shakespeare and Jane Austen. The performance is set for today at 7:30 p.m. — additional shows run on June 21 at 7:30 p.m. and June 22 at 3:00 p.m. with tickets priced at $25.00.  Downtown State College

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The State College Area School District will host a Support Staff Job Fair on Thursday, June 26, at the Panorama Village Administrative Center—from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.—to fill open positions for the 2025-26 school year; community members with a high school diploma should bring their resumes for an on-site interview.  StateCollege.com
  • Twenty-four top middle school students gathered at Penn State University's HUB-Robeson Center on June 13 for the National Civics Bee state finals, and Cooper Palma from Mount Nittany Middle School earned second place for his detailed essay on light pollution (receiving $750). He advanced after winning Centre County’s local round in April and his strong performance added to the county's overall success at the event.  StateCollege.com
  • Rasha Elwakil questioned her removal as UPUA president in April and said the impeachment process did not follow constitutional rules—she claimed she was not given proper notice and that the meeting was improperly led by the vice president instead of the required chief justice.  Daily Collegian

SPORTS NEWS

  • Florence Caron from Penn State won the Canadian national title in the 10,000-meter race at the Royal City Inferno on Wednesday with a time of 33:18.84 — she raced against eight club runners and finished nearly 10 seconds ahead of her competitors.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State men’s basketball is set to face La Salle on November 15 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia in a rematch from their lone Final Four run—La Salle won in 1954 while Penn State claimed the most recent win in 2013.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State forward Charlie Cerrato, 20, enters his final NHL draft eligibility on June 27 after his key plays in the Frozen Four boosted his ranking. He is training at the USA Hockey Arena before traveling to State College with his linemate, plus he remains focused on proving himself to a potential NHL team.  Daily Collegian
  • PJ Duke, a future Penn State freshman, was named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week after pinning four time NCAA champion Yianni Diakomihalis in his final match. He will be one of the youngest wrestlers at the senior level — set to take part in the World Championships in Croatia beginning September 13.  Daily Collegian
