CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A State College man, Markos S. Bejiga, 28, was arrested over the weekend for allegedly setting fire to a Pride flag outside Faith United Church of Christ on E. College Ave and vandalizing additional Pride decorations downtown—he faces charges of risking catastrophe, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday. - ➤ Two Penn State doctoral students from the One Health Microbiome Center were selected for a seven-week internship at QIAGEN’s headquarters in Hilden, Germany this summer—where they will gain hands-on experience in molecular diagnostics and microbiome research under a long-term industry partnership. - ➤ Penn State's Board of Trustees agreed to a settlement that ended 18 months of litigation from Spotlight PA over secret meetings and open meetings law concerns. Under the agreement, the board will take a Sunshine Act training on Sept. 11 and now must share details of private sessions—an arrangement that lasts five years. StateCollege.com

- ➤ Ironman 70.3 will return to Happy Valley on June 15 with a new course that ends on Curtin Road—improving access for fans—and will begin with a 7 a.m. swim at Bald Eagle State Park before athletes bike and run on familiar local routes.
