BUSINESS NEWS

  • Axemann Brewery in Bellefonte filed a lawsuit on Thursday to stop its landlord Navitus LLC from removing outdoor patio space and key equipment that would force the business to close immediately—lawyers say the lease dispute, extra monthly charges, and parking issues have raised serious concerns.  StateCollege.com

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new report showed that Penn State delivered $15.8 billion to the state's economy and supported nearly 110,000 jobs. The report said one out of every 10 jobs in Pennsylvania is linked to the university and its alumni — proving its key role in our state's economy.  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State has added former Villanova special teams coordinator Matthew Colangelo as a special teams analyst to boost the coaching staff. He will support the Nittany Lions ahead of their nonconference game with Villanova on Sept. 13 at Beaver Stadium—Colangelo has previously coached at Holy Cross and Yale.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State coach James Franklin named transfer wide receiver Trebor Peña as the clear favorite to start after his 941-yard season and leadership at his previous school—coaches said his mature play and quick route running will boost the team. The Nittany Lions will use his versatile skills as they prepare for upcoming games.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State head coach James Franklin met with the media on Thursday and discussed new transfers, noting that receiver Trebor Peña and linebacker Amare Campbell joined the team while injured players like Donkoh, Rojas, and Andrew Rappleyea are expected to return soon. He also mentioned that defensive end Max Granville remains sidelined + he touched on possible changes to the College Football Playoff system and conference vote differences.  Daily Collegian
  • Three-star cornerback Amauri Polydor committed to Penn State Football on Friday night and becomes the third cornerback in the 2026 class, choosing Penn State over Michigan State, Buffalo, and East Carolina- the Baltimore native played in 11 games last season with two interceptions and seven passes defended. He will bring his experience to Happy Valley in the upcoming season.  Onward State
  • Penn State defensive end Max Granville will be out long-term after injuring himself during a home workout, which changes his expected role this season. Defensive line coach Deion Barnes said he is focused on Granville’s recovery (the team will rely on other players like Enai White and promising freshmen to adjust its lineup).  Daily Collegian
  • Coach Kayla Treanor landed her first big time recruit as top-ranked 5-star goalie Reagan O'Donovan (Class of 2026) flipped her commitment from Syracuse to Penn State; the goalie from McDonogh School (Maryland) will join the team for the 2027 season.  Daily Collegian
  • A federal judge approved a settlement in House v. NCAA that allows Penn State to begin paying student athletes under a 10-year revenue-sharing plan. The school will start distributing an initial $20.5 million from NIL deals on July 1—additional funds are expected in coming years.  Onward State
