- ➤ The Penn State Small Business Development Center recently hosted its annual Growth Conference at the Nittany Lion Inn in University Park—gathering business consultants from across the state to learn about trends such as tariff impacts and artificial intelligence. - ➤ The Elmwood Street bridge near Lemont in College Township will be closed until mid-September as PennDOT repairs it starting Monday, June 9 — drivers must use Pike Street and Route 26/East College Avenue for a detour. H&P Construction Inc.—the contractor on the $1.4 million project—began work in April to improve the bridge’s ride quality and extend its service life. StateCollege.com

- ➤ A team at Penn State will study how binge drinking during adolescence affects brain growth using a mouse model supported by a five-year $2.9M grant from the NIH—researchers will also check if male and female mice react differently to alcohol exposure. Penn State
- ➤ At Penn State, Dipanjan Pan holds the Huck Chair in Nanomedicine and leads research to create tiny sensors that help doctors detect diseases early; his team is testing devices that use body fluids to spot conditions—this work will move science from the lab to patient care. Penn State

- ➤ Penn State alum Jordan Ott was named head coach of the Phoenix Suns after serving as an assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He replaced former coach Mike Budenholtzer after Budenholtzer was fired in April. StateCollege.com
- ➤ During the 2025 season, Penn State baseball recorded 33 wins and broke records with 108 stolen bases and 111 doubles as coach Mike Gambino led his team to a 9-game winning streak plus drawing a record crowd of 6106 fans and 12112 hot dogs sold at one game.
