EDUCATION NEWS

  • Penn State’s latest financial disclosure shows that men’s basketball coach Mike Rhoades and wrestling coach Cael Sanderson appear on the list of highest paid employees for the first time; Sanderson earned $964,455 and Rhoades $4.18 million after signing a seven-year contract in March plus the report covers compensation for top officials as required by the state’s Right to Know Law for the fiscal year beginning July 1 and ending June 30.  StateCollege.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Centre County Office of Aging received the delayed vouchers on June 2 and will soon distribute them under the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program run by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Eligible residents aged 60 and older will get five $5 vouchers at five local centers scheduled between June 4 and June 16 (Madisonburg, Philipsburg, Snow Show, Centre Hall, and Centre Region).  WTAJ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Saquon Barkley, the former Penn State running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, has been named the cover athlete for Madden NFL 26 as the first Nittany Lion to earn this honor after his Super Bowl win. He earned a 99 overall rating after leading the league in scrimmage yards last season — he said he is grateful to his team and fans.  StateCollege.com
  • Former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley was named the cover athlete for Madden NFL 26 on Monday, making him the first Nittany Lion to appear on the cover. He had a record season with the Eagles—rushing for 2,005 yards and catching 278 receiving yards, and the game will release on August 14 with early access on August 11 for Deluxe preorders.  Onward State
  • Turkish guard Melih Tunca committed on June 2 to join Penn State hoops for the 25-26 season—he became the sixth member of coach Mike Rhoades’ recruiting class, which was ranked No. 26 on Monday by 247Sports.  Onward State
