A small turquoise food truck named Rumba & Soul is offering Puerto Rican & soul food at festivals throughout Centre County this summer.

Owners Angel and Nia Rodriguez, who launched the business in early June, serve family recipes like pernil and mofongo made with fresh, local ingredients to connect with the local community.

The Centre County Historical Society completed a nine‐month, $200,000 restoration of the 148‐year‐old Boogersburg School in Patton Township to preserve its role as a living history museum — a public open house is held today from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1021 Fox Hill Road to honor key contributors like the Hamer Foundation.

Downtown State College Improvement District will hold a free visible mending workshop on June 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Teens and adults will learn hand-sewing techniques to repair clothing and reduce waste, and participants must register in advance and may bring items they need to mend.

Penn State players Ryan Merk and Owen Rose were selected for the 21-athlete roster to train with USA U23 National Team at the National Team Training Center in Anaheim from July 20-27 in preparation for the NORCECA U23 Pan American Cup in Guatemala.

Coaches will choose 12 players from the training sessions—giving these athletes a chance to compete internationally—once the block ends.
