- ➤ The Spring Nittany Antique Machinery Association Show began on May 30 at Penns Cave along Route 192 and offers family fun with antique tractors, tractor pulls, demonstrations and food vendors. The three-day event runs until June 1 (admission is $5 on Saturday and free on Sunday, with children 11 and under entering at no cost). WTAJ
- ➤ The State College/Downtown Rotary Club presented checks totaling $22,000 to 13 Centre County non-profit organizations using funds from community events such as the summer Ice Cream Festival, fall mums and pie sales, and spring spaghetti dinner—supporting local service efforts. WTAJ

- ➤ Former Philadelphia Eagles player Juqua D. Parker (47) was charged with DUI after crashing his Corvette on March 29 on the 3200 block of W. Pine Grove Rd. in rural western Centre County; he drove home from Champs Downtown, failed a field sobriety test, and his preliminary hearing is set for July 2. StateCollege.com

- ➤ Faculty and students of Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences attended the UN’s 10th Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals held earlier this month in New York City—where youth-led agrifood innovations were discussed. The college also hosted a Food and Agriculture Organization delegation on campus—showcasing research labs and signing a collaboration for the World Food Forum Youth Food Lab. Penn State
- ➤ On May 28, Penn State’s Senior Vice President for Research Andrew Read led a live discussion with nearly 1,000 community members about how federal actions are impacting research operations and funding. Read said the university will appeal grant terminations, submit a formal declaration against proposed NSF funding cuts, and launch the 'Research or Regress' campaign to counter a potential $90 million annual loss in research support—steps aimed at mitigating the uncertainty ahead.
