CULTURE NEWS

  • HUB-Robeson Galleries will display New York artist Camille Hoffman's immersive installation Parenthetic Passages from May 30 through Oct. 30 to explore deep ecological time and ancestral history+ the gallery welcomes visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free admission.  Penn State

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Penn State University Park faculty, staff and graduate students can apply for the 2025-26 RIDEpass, which offers discounted CATABUS access with Transportation Services covering part of the cost — the program aims to cut campus traffic. Current pass members will pick up their passes starting May 29 at the 1 Eisenhower Parking Deck and new members on June 2, while expired passes must be returned by May 31.  Penn State
  • Invent Penn State is accepting applications for its NSF I-Corps Short Course virtual program designed to help researchers test startup ideas through customer interviews and lean startup methods—teams must complete a self-guided prep mini-course by Friday, May 30 and plan to spend 5 to 10 hours per week as the course runs from June 6 to June 20.  Penn State
  • Professor Gerry LeTendre explained that the iSTEP network—an approach that treats teachers as researchers—connects universities and local schools to address the STEM teacher shortage in Pennsylvania and could soon be piloted through local programs.  Penn State
  • The Penn State Department of Architecture will welcome three new faculty members this summer—Teisha Bradley as an assistant teaching professor starting Aug. 1, José Ibarra as an assistant professor starting Aug. 1, and Delphine Lewandowski as an assistant professor beginning on July 1. They bring diverse expertise to strengthen the department's interdisciplinary approach.  Penn State

  • State College girls lacrosse beat Erie McDowell on Tuesday, May 27, with senior midfielder Ella Tambroni surpassing 200 draw controls and freshman goalie Brielle Freeman registering her 100th save. The Little Lions will face Pine-Richland in the PIAA 3A tournament opening round on June 3 — details are to be announced.  PennLive
  • Transportation Services has announced parking for the State College Spikes baseball season, with spaces available across from Medlar Field at the Jordan East lot for $5.35 payable via HONK (zone PSUCR) and event rates at the Stadium West lot. Faculty, staff and student permits will be free while staff assist patrons, and season passes for the Porter North lot may be purchased through the Spikes Ticket Office.  Penn State
  • Liam Matthews of Penn State scored nine goals on 16 shots in three NCAA tournament games and was named to the All-NCAA Tournament Team, making him the only Nittany Lion selected among nine players from Cornell and Maryland. The sophomore posted four goals in key rounds—helping his team finish the season with an 11-9 loss in the Final Four.  Onward State
