EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) is accepting applications for a new vice president to assist President Port in running the 20th Assembly after a recent leadership change, and all students must submit their application by June 14 at 11:59 p.m.  Onward State
  • Penn State's Board of Trustees voted 25 to 8 to close 7 Commonwealth campuses by spring 2027 due to low enrollment, high costs, and aging facilities—DuBois, Fayette, Mont Alto, New Kensington, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre and York. Five other campuses will remain open with more support to better serve students.  Daily Collegian

SPORTS NEWS

  • Fast-paced competitive cycling will debut in Happy Valley with the inaugural criterium on Saturday, July 26, on a closed-loop course from E. Beaver Ave. to S. Garner St. — the event welcomes public attendance and includes a free kids race before the main race while adults pay $25 to $55.  WTAJ
  • Fourteen Penn State track and field athletes will compete in the NCAA East First Round in Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday and Saturday—seeking redemption after a 10th-place finish at the Big Ten Championship. They will take part in races and field events including the women’s javelin throw, pole vault, 1500m, 400m, 800m, 10,000m, high jump, 3000m steeplechase, and 5000m.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State men’s hockey lost its Frozen Four game to Boston University and the defeat sparked major changes in recruiting and team roster. Coach Guy Gadowsky praised new goaltender Kevin Reidler—while transfer Mac Gadowsky and top prospect Luke Misa joined the team to build a stronger future.  Daily Collegian
