- ➤ The State College Area School District received a $300K state grant this week to install a 630 kW solar array at the planned new Park Forest Middle School on Little Lion Drive in Patton Township—construction on the 270,000-square-foot building is expected to begin early 2026 and finish in 2028. - ➤ Penn State Extension updated its 172-page 'Beekeeping Basics' guide and launched the Beekeeping 201 course to offer science-based resources that help beekeepers improve hive care and manage challenges like parasites—resources that support both beginners and experienced keepers. - ➤ The Penn State Board of Trustees ratified the recommendation on May 22 to restructure the Commonwealth Campuses by closing seven campuses after the spring 2026–27 academic term, affecting about 3.6% of students while offering a two-year transition plan. - ➤ State College’s boys volleyball team won the District 6 title by sweeping Altoona 3-0, with Derrick Campbell recording a triple-double (13 assists, 12 digs, 10 kills) that moved the Little Lions closer to the PIAA tournament.
