CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Graves on Indian Lane, a locally produced documentary on Centre County's Revolutionary War history, will have a free public screening at Schlow Centre Region Library downtown on Wednesday, May 27 (after a private screening for DAR members). StateCollege.com

- ➤ Local growers in Centre County experienced heavy crop losses after an unusually warm late winter led to early budding and successive frost events this spring — vineyard and farm owners warned that rising grocery prices may soon affect consumers. StateCollege.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Penn State honored 20 staff this week in its 'We Are!' feature for going above and beyond in roles spanning academic support, athletic direction, and more (nominations remain open for other deserving colleagues). Penn State
- ➤ Plant sciences graduate Charles Colvin earned Penn State’s Outstanding Senior Award for 2025-26 after significant research work in the Maize Genetics Lab. He will begin his Ph.D. at Duke this fall and was named a Hertz Foundation Fellow + the first from his college to receive this honor. Penn State
- ➤ A Penn State partnership teams international students from the Intensive English Communication Program with volunteers from the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute to share stories and build communication skills for academic and career success. The eight-week course at the campus offers learning that connects generations (helping both students and older adults). Penn State
- ➤ Researchers at Penn State designed a 3D-printed speaker cover that focuses sound waves into an inch-wide bubble for clear audio. The team tested the passive design on an array of PALs (parametric array loudspeakers) and said it could lead to smaller, more efficient systems for private listening. Penn State
- ➤ Penn State students at CommAgency earned five international Telly Awards from two video projects for the Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies department and the Alumni Association in University Park. The Women’s project received a Gold, a Silver, and a Bronze Telly Award while the Alumni project won two Silver Telly Awards. Penn State
- ➤ Five Penn State faculty were named Big Ten Academic Alliance Department Executive Officer Fellows for the 2026 program due to their significant contributions and leadership potential. They will attend a seminar in Chicago (Nov. 11-13) to further develop departmental leadership skills. Penn State

- ➤ After a historic freshman season at Penn State, TNT aired 'The McKenna Project,' an hour-long documentary on Gavin McKenna that followed his journey up to the NHL draft. The film ran after Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Carolina Hurricanes & Montreal Canadiens. Daily Collegian
- ➤ An analysis of a proposed 24-team playoff shows that under the format, Penn State would have entered bye rounds before facing teams like Miami & Illinois in 2024, Liberty at Beaver Stadium in 2023, and Mississippi State in 2022. The study examines how a new playoff reshaped matchups. Onward State
- ➤ Penn State baseball players Jack Porter and Nate Voss are entering the transfer portal and still have one year of eligibility remaining (Porter has transferred before and Voss faced an early-season injury). Onward State
- ➤ Penn State women’s lacrosse star Delaney Radin was named to the ILWCA All-America third team + received an Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention after breaking the Nittany Lions’ single-season assist record with 57 assists and 27 goals. She could have a big season in 2027. Onward State
- ➤ Two Penn State alumni played in the NBA for the Nuggets and Clippers. Pickett played 50 games with a 29-point high (best in overtime) and Niederhauser averaged 8.2 points before a ligament tear ended his play, leaving them as the only Nittany Lions in the league next season. StateCollege.com
