CRIME NEWS

  • Former Olympic gold medalist Kyle Snyder pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after being arrested on May 9 in a prostitution sting at a Columbus motel — he paid a $250 fine and finished a one-day program for those accused of solicitation.  StateCollege.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Voters cast ballots on Tuesday, May 20 for five Centre County school boards covering State College, Bald Eagle, Bellefonte, Penns Valley and Philipsburg-Osceola areas. Results are unofficial from all 87 precincts—vote counts will be confirmed after certification.  StateCollege.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kerry Abello — a former Penn State player and key member of the Orlando Pride — has earned her first call-up to the senior U.S. Women’s National Team. She will join teammate Sam Coffey as the team prepares for matches against China PR and Jamaica on May 31 and June 3.  Onward State
  • After rallying from deficits against Colgate and Notre Dame, Penn State men's lacrosse built its tournament run on a strong bond and belief—key factors for their comebacks. They will now face a rematch against Cornell in the national semifinals at Gillette Stadium and plan to extend their success.  Onward State
  • Daniel Jennings, a top four-star defensive end recruit set to enter his senior year, officially reclassified and signed with the Nittany Lions on Tuesday—adding competition to a defensive line reshaped by transfers and departures.
