- ➤ State College restaurateur Hitham Hiyajneh will open Baby’s Diner in mid-June at 131 S. Garner St. The revamped diner will serve a halal menu of classics like burgers, milkshakes and hot dogs + offer extended hours when Penn State is in session. StateCollege.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Penn State's Lambda Chi Alpha chapter accepted a one-semester suspension for spring after a university investigation reported hazing incidents from last year, including underage drinking and isolation during new member events. The chapter will implement a corrective plan with mandatory training and leadership development. Penn State
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cynthia Hahn, executive director of C-NET for 20 years, will retire May 31 and be succeeded by Stephanie Yager (approved April 14) as the network continues to offer government and educational programming for 17 member organizations in Centre County. StateCollege.com
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Penn State women’s lacrosse players Delaney Radin and Maggie Driver were named to the Inside Lacrosse All-America honorable mention team last Friday (with Radin leading in points and Driver excelling on defense). Both will return next season as the Nittany Lions prepare for year two of the Kayla Treanor era in February. Onward State
- ➤ Former Penn State players Simone Lee and Micha Hancock have been named to the USA team for the Volleyball Nations League, which runs from June 3 to July 26. They will compete to help win the gold medal this summer. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Former Penn State women's basketball star Angie Potthoff was named chief of staff in Happy Valley + her appointment follows head coach Tanisha Wright's hiring on Mar. 19. Daily Collegian
- ➤ On Thursday, during a win over Maryland, Penn State infielder Michael Anderson hit his 20th home run and broke the single-season record previously set in 2010 + he will play in Friday’s second game against Maryland at 6 p.m. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State women's lacrosse earned All-Region honors last week when junior Delaney Radin was named to the IWLCA All-Region First Team and senior Maggie Driver received a spot on the All-Region Second Team; Radin set a record with 57 assists + Driver led with 30 turnovers. Daily Collegian
- ➤ No. 8 Penn State will face Princeton at noon Sunday in Newark for an NCAA Quarterfinal game. Coach Jeff Tambroni said the team plans to build on season-long growth & focus on teamwork to counter Princeton’s improved play. Daily Collegian
- ➤ After three months of setting records, Penn State’s track team is competing in the Outdoor Big Ten Championships in Lincoln from Friday to Sunday, with top 800m athletes, throwers, and sprinters ready to chase podium finishes. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State secured three-star quarterback Will Wood's commitment on Friday, making him the only quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class & boosting the team’s depth for future seasons. StateCollege.com
- ➤ Penn State men’s hockey team flipped a commit when Egor Shilov — who scored 82 points in 63 games for the Victoriaville Tigers last season — announced he will join the Nittany Lions instead of Boston University. His start with the team remains uncertain. Daily Collegian
