COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ AAUW State College will hold its 63rd annual used book sale from May 17 through May 20 at the Penn State Snider Agricultural Arena where over 150,000 books and media will be on offer. The event will feature special deals such as Half Price Day on May 19 and a $10 grocery bag on May 20—proceeds will fund scholarships and community grants. StateCollege.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Penn State suspended the Acacia fraternity after a months-long investigation revealed hazing practices that forced alcohol and tobacco use and caused some students to seek medical help. The fraternity chose not to participate in the conduct process—losing all university privileges for at least four years—and now operates off campus with limited university oversight. Daily Collegian

- ➤ The Penn State Board of Trustees announced nine trustees who will begin their terms on July 1. The slate includes re-elected members—Valerie Detwiler, Tracy Riegel, Naren Gursahaney, and Richard Sokolov—and new trustees Matthew D. Espenshade, Ruby Bjalme, Kelley Lynch, Uma Moriarity, and J. Gregory Pilewicz with alumni votes ranging from 3,396 to 4,942. Onward State

- ➤ Penn State men’s basketball center Yanic Konan Niederhauser has been invited to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago—he impressed scouts at the G League Elite Camp with strong shooting and rebounding numbers. His performance at the camp has set the stage for further evaluations as he considers his future at Penn State. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State lost its final Big Ten game on Sunday when Rutgers won 9 to 6 after the Nittany Lions fell short of a series sweep+ the team will play Pitt at 6 p.m. Tuesday to try to rebound. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Former Penn State football safety Jonathan Sutherland signed with the Las Vegas Raiders after being released by the Giants and completing a successful rookie minicamp tryout yesterday — he will compete to make his first regular-season appearance with the Raiders later this season. Onward State
- ➤ Penn State football had a good season with just one loss before a playoff exit, and the volleyball team won its eighth national title as coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors after finishing chemotherapy; the women’s soccer team advanced in the NCAA Tournament with Kaitlyn MacBean named All-American. Men’s hockey came back to reach the Frozen Four and women’s hockey set a record with 31 wins and won the AHA Tournament—both teams will work to get even better in the fall. Daily Collegian
