- ➤ The College of Arts and Architecture at Penn State held its third New-Music Festival and Symposium in March, where 608 compositions from 37 countries and 28 research proposals from 10 countries were submitted. Professor Baljinder Sekhon II said the event expanded with new categories such as a viola quartet and Dolby Atmos works—plans include adding extra days and interdisciplinary themes in the future. - ➤ Penn State professor Réka Albert was elected to the National Academy of Sciences for her work mapping complex biological systems using network science—her election brings the university’s membership to 26 and she will be honored at a ceremony on April 24. Penn State
- ➤ The Penn State community is mourning the death of Christopher F. Uhl, professor emeritus of biology who died on Feb. 11 after a 30-year career at the University. - ➤ Three Penn State students advised researchers at HHMI’s Janelia Research Campus on April 4 and 5 to improve lab efficiency and resource management— they developed a simple checklist to guide sustainable changes. Penn State

- ➤ State College baseball beat Central Dauphin 7-5 when Sebastian Rhoades drove in the extra two runs—he finished 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs. The game was tied 5-5 through regulation—before extras decided the win. PennLive
- ➤ The Penn State softball team upset Iowa 6-2 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament in West Lafayette after losing all three matches earlier this season. The team will face Nebraska at 11 a.m. today as they continue their run in the tournament. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Central Dauphin swept a doubleheader over State College on March 5 (6-5 win in game one via a walk-off bunt and a 5-0 shutout in game two with Stella Gasper pitching seven innings). The Rams improved their record to (13-1) while State College dropped to 10-7. PennLive
