  • Friday evening, The Whiskey Barber Salon opened at 135 S. Pugh St. in downtown, offering classic haircuts and whiskey-infused treatments in a western-themed setting. Owner Tanya Campbell launched the salon—its first small business grant from the Retail Launch Assistance Program supports local growth.  StateCollege.com

  • Swedish pop star Zara Larsson brought warm, summery vibes to Penn State's Movin' On Stage despite rainy weather; she sang upbeat hits and even pulled a fan on stage for a nostalgic moment.  Onward State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State softball lost both games in a Saturday doubleheader against No. 3 Nebraska at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field, with scores of 5-1 and 10-4, and will try to avoid a sweep in their regular season finale today at noon.  Onward State
  • Penn State lost 5-3 to Minnesota in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, marking their fifth loss in a week. The Nittany Lions will host Minnesota today at 11:30 a.m. to close out the series.  Daily Collegian
  • Ashlee Brown, a 5-foot-9 guard from Example Academy Girls Prep School, committed on Saturday as the seventh player for Penn State women's basketball under coach Tanisha Wright, and she becomes the second freshman commit after Kamrah Banks. The team also named Danielle Edwards as assistant coach & director of recruiting.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State baseball lost a close series opener to Minnesota at Happy Valley on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Gophers took an early lead + held it through the game. The Nittany Lions will face Minnesota again in a doubleheader shortly.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State baseball was swept in a doubleheader against Minnesota at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Saturday, with Michael Anderson tying the school record with his 19th home run. The Nittany Lions now prepare to face a series finale today at 11:30 a.m. to try to avoid a sweep.  Onward State
  • Penn State’s Lady Lions added transfer players Ava Black (from Vanderbilt) and Devyn Quigley (from NC State) to the 2026-27 roster during the offseason; coach Tanisha Wright expects they will boost the team’s performance on the court.  Onward State
  • Penn State track and field concluded its outdoor season at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton on Friday and Saturday. The Nittany Lions recorded 14 personal bests and five top-10 finishes and will compete in the Big Ten Championships in Lincoln from May 15 to May 17.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State men's lacrosse won the Big Ten Tournament by a 16 to 8 victory over Johns Hopkins, and Hunter Aquino earned tournament most outstanding player with five goals and two assists. Alex Ross, Colby Baldwin, Kyle Lehman and Preston Hawkins joined the All-Tournament Team (securing the team's second title).  Daily Collegian
