- ➤ Hoppy Valley Brewers Fest, scheduled for May 24 at Penn State’s Panzer Stadium, is canceled because ticket sales were low due to economic challenges. Organizers will email refund details and have not yet decided if the event will return next year. StateCollege.com

- ➤ A Penn State team won first place in Deloitte’s National Undergraduate Case Competition at Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas. The interdisciplinary team from (NLCG) earned each $1,000 in scholarship money while representing several college programs. Penn State
- ➤ Michael Verderame will serve as keynote for the master’s ceremony at the Bryce Jordan Center and Tracy Langkilde will speak for the doctoral ceremony at Pegula Ice Arena on Sunday, May 10 at 5 p.m.—both events will be livestreamed for family and friends. Penn State
- ➤ Smeal College of Business students, faculty, and staff will have complimentary access to Barron’s and MarketWatch for the next 24 months through the Investing in Education program, sponsored by alumni Charles Balducci + Eric Snyder. - ➤ Altoona professor Erin Murphy, an award-winning poet and educator, has been named the 2026-27 Penn State Laureate. Murphy will offer interactive presentations and visit classes across disciplines to showcase the arts and humanities. Penn State
- ➤ Penn State University Libraries begin summer hours on Sunday, May 10 through Sunday, Aug. 23. Hours differ at University Park and Commonwealth Campus libraries (with holiday closures and one-day schedule adjustments), so visitors should review posted times online. Penn State

- ➤ Jamir Dean, a three-star wide receiver from Tennessee, committed to Penn State football on Friday morning — choosing the Nittany Lions over several offers after posting his decision on Instagram. He recorded 590 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns last season. Onward State
