EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Penn State will hold its spring commencement ceremonies from May 9 to May 11 and is expected to award about 14,559 diplomas across multiple campuses. - ➤ Nate Carey from Chesapeake Beach, Maryland has been named the student marshal for the Penn State Eberly College of Science spring commencement on Sunday, May 11 at University Park. - ➤ Tuesday night storms knocked down trees, power lines, and poles, and by Wednesday morning several State College roads were closed — including Westerly Parkway between South Sparks Street and O’Bryan Lane, Easterly Parkway between South Pugh Street and Old Boalsburg Road, the 1000 block of South Pugh Street, the 400 block of Orlando Avenue, one lane of West Fairmount Avenue, the 600 block of Berry Alley, and Nimitz Avenue with Penfield Road — while officials advised people to keep at least 30 feet away from any downed lines.
