- ➤ Pitaya, a new boutique, will open Tuesday, April 28 at 10 a.m. at 324 E. College Ave in downtown to offer fresh, affordable fashions and gift the first 30 customers a $30 gift card. Onward State
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Pop Up Ave returns downtown on Saturday, May 2 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., hosting about 50 vendors along Allen Street and West Foster Avenue. The updated layout places food vendors near the beer garden (Bill Welch Memorial Plaza), offering a free, family-friendly market. StateCollege.com
- ➤ Mojofest took place at Tussey Mountain on Saturday, April 18 featuring local bands and national acts along with food trucks and merch tents. Despite long lines for food and drinks and shifting weather, the festival delivered a memorable Woodstock feel that has many looking forward to its return. Onward State
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Scientists at Penn State reported today that simple abdominal contractions cause the brain to shift, allowing fluid flow that could help clear waste and protect brain health. The research used mice (and computer simulations) to reveal this hydraulic process. Penn State

- ➤ On Sunday, Penn State baseball lost 5-0 to No. 19 Oregon in Eugene as the Ducks kept the Nittany Lions scoreless after an early threat. Penn State will host West Virginia for its final Dollar Dog Night game on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Onward State
- ➤ On Saturday, Penn State football held its first Blue-White Practice at Beaver Stadium in rainy Happy Valley, and fans got an early look at the 2026 roster & new coach Matt Campbell as players ran drills ahead of fall camp. Onward State
- ➤ Penn State men's volleyball clinched the EIVA Tournament title after sweeping Princeton + cutting errors to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament as they prepare to play UC Irvine Friday. The team looks to build on its complete performance in coach Mark Pavlik's final season. Onward State
- ➤ Penn State softball beat Illinois 10 to 3 in the final game of a series of three. Breanna Hanik hit a record three run home run in the sixth inning, and the Nittany Lions will host their final regular season series with first pitch at 5 p.m. on May 1. Onward State
- ➤ Eight Penn State football players were drafted in the NFL Draft held in Pittsburgh from April 23 to April 25 — seven later signed free-agent deals, marking the program's 14th time with eight selections. Penn State
