SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Penn State running back Nick Singleton was drafted No.165 overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2026 NFL Draft, making him the first Happy Valley back picked since Miles Sanders (2019) and set to join a running back committee behind quarterback Cam Ward.  Onward State
  • Former Penn State safety Zakee Wheatley was drafted by the Carolina Panthers with the 151 overall pick in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, making him the fifth Nittany Lion selected this year. Wheatley recorded 222 tackles and six interceptions over five seasons in Happy Valley.  Onward State
  • Penn State men’s volleyball won its fourth consecutive EIVA title by sweeping Princeton 3-0 in their final home match, outplaying the Tigers with fewer errors and strong defensive blocks. The Nittany Lions will now advance to the NCAA Tournament as they await their next opponent on Selection Sunday.  Onward State
  • Several Penn State players were selected in the NFL Draft held Friday, Apr. 24 in Pittsburgh—guard Vega Ioane was the first Nittany Lion chosen in the first round and quarterback Drew Allar was the only selection on the second day.  StateCollege.com
  • On Friday night, the Nittany Lions lost 5-4 to No. 19 Oregon in Eugene, with pitcher Colin Fitzgerald striking out 12 and Bryce Molinaro hitting his 12th home run.  Onward State
  • Former Penn State defensive tackle Zane Durant (6'1", 290 lbs) was drafted by the Buffalo Bills at No. 181 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft and is set to join a team with a deep defensive line; he played 54 games for the Nittany Lions in Happy Valley.  Onward State
  • Defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton was drafted 120 overall in the fourth round by the Green Bay Packers on Saturday. He became the third Nittany Lion selected consecutively in the NFL Draft (following Vega Ioane and Drew Allar).  StateCollege.com
  • Vega Ioane, a former Penn State offensive lineman, was selected 14th overall by the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL Draft, extending Penn State’s streak of first-round picks to three straight years. He impressed scouts with his safe play over two seasons (he recorded over 1,000 snaps with no sacks).  Daily Collegian
  • At the U.S. Open Wrestling Championships over the weekend, 13 Penn State wrestlers competed in men’s freestyle, with multiple podium finishes including gold medals from Luke Lilledahl (who captured his second title) and Marcus Blaze that put them on track for Final X.  Onward State
  • Former Penn State tight end Khalil Dinkins signed with the 49ers on April 25, 2026, with $275,000 guaranteed to earn a roster spot with George Kittle. The Wexford native, a five-season player from Penn State, is the third Nittany Lion to sign as an undrafted free agent.  Onward State
  • Penn State women's basketball team added former Nebraska forward Petra Bozan to complete its five-player lineup for next year—she played 32 games last season and averaged 6.6 points and 3.4 rebounds; this marks the fifth transfer this week.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State held its first-ever Blue-White Practice yesterday in Beaver Stadium amid heavy rain, as coaches used the 90-minute session to address quarterback struggles and highlight strong run plays by Carson Hansen and James Peoples.  StateCollege.com
