EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fletcher Port was named the new president of the University Park Undergraduate Association after Rasha Elwakil was removed, following UPUA rules. He promised to improve transparency, student well-being, affordability, and sustainability — Speaker Kat Hogan backed the decision and said the association will soon choose a new vice president.  Daily Collegian
  • Journalism professor David Joachim now coordinates COMM 260W at the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications to give students hands-on reporting experience. He requires students to identify as reporters when they interview — a move to boost accuracy and accountability — and ties assignments to real-world news events.  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter was drafted with the No. 3 overall pick by the New York Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft — the highest Nittany Lion selection since Saquon Barkley, and he will join teammate Theo Johnson to help the team improve after a 3–14 season.  Onward State
  • Penn State TE Tyler Warren was picked No. 14 overall by the Indianapolis Colts after he set records with 100 receptions in one season—he becomes the highest drafted tight end since Kyle Brady and stated that his teammates helped him reach his dream.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State Athletics announced that due to construction no seating is available on the West side of Beaver Stadium and fans must enter through Gates A and E. Free admission kicks off at 2 p.m. today with parking and tailgating beginning at 8 a.m.  Onward State
  • Penn State men's volleyball swept NJIT in three sets to secure a spot in the EIVA Tournament final against Princeton at 5 p.m. Saturday — the team relied on key plays from Matthew Luoma and Will Kuhns while NJIT struggled after a critical injury.  Daily Collegian
  • After their College Football Playoff semifinal run, 11 Penn State Nittany Lions declared for the 2025 NFL Draft and staff predictions rank key prospects such as Abdul Carter as top picks—his switch from linebacker to defensive end stands out.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State football defensive lineman Joseph Mupoyi signed with North Carolina after entering the transfer portal on April 22—he played in two games this season and was named the coaching staff’s Developmental Squad Player of the Week.  Onward State
  • Max Granville is working hard to advance his role on Penn State's defense after adding weight in the offseason — the redshirt freshman learned from former teammate Abdul Carter and is focused on improving his run game.   • Penn State finished fourth in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings after a strong winter season that saw national titles in women's volleyball and wrestling—men’s hockey made its first Frozen Four and women’s hockey won its third AHA Championship before losing in the NCAA Tournament.  Daily Collegian
