EDUCATION NEWS

  • Undergraduate Ethan Merckx catalogued a dire wolf jawbone from Penn State’s fossil collection at the Hollidaysburg Fissure (in Blair County) as part of a project to digitize Ice Age specimens. This discovery comes amid global attention on dire wolves following Colossal Biosciences’ recent cloning announcement.  Penn State
  • Twelve educators participated in an immersive workshop at Penn State University Park where they explored artificial intelligence as a tool in advancing agricultural literacy under a USDA-funded program. Working in groups, they treated AI as an equal teammate to design a board game that combined elements of Monopoly and Mancala.  Penn State

  • Penn State Transportation Services announced parking, traffic, and transit adjustments for Blue-White Weekend ahead of the football game that will kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beaver Stadium. Fans should note campus lots will close starting Friday at midnight and adjusted transit routes are in effect—arriving early is advised.  Penn State
  • State College girls lacrosse beat Mifflin County 21-2 on Tuesday as Macey Mitchell, Emma Lally, and Ella Tambroni each scored four goals—Mitchell added four assists and 12 draw controls while Reagan Dare and Maddy Kopinski scored twice to build the rout.  PennLive
  • Penn State Athletics and Lion Surplus will host an online auction starting Monday, April 28th to sell memorabilia from Beaver Stadium renovation — including bleacher seats, signage and items from the removed press box.   • Former Penn State linebacker Ta’Mere Robinson has committed to transfer to USC after recording 11 tackles and 2 tackles for loss in 14 games last season and will use his remaining three years of eligibility to join the Trojans defense led by former Nittany Lion coordinator D’Anton Lynn—his move shifts focus to Anthony Speca and Keon Wylie at middle linebacker.  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State football defensive lineman Joseph Mupoyi entered the transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining. The redshirt sophomore played in two games in the 2024 season + earned Developmental Squad Defensive Player of the Week before his decision.  Onward State
