CULTURE NEWS

  • The Penn State School of Music will present the Symphonic and Concert Bands at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29 in Eisenhower Auditorium. The performance will feature wind music from early classics to modern pieces with tickets available through the Arts Ticket Center website.  Penn State

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Penn State Alumni Association will host Senior Week at University Park from April 27-May 1 (for graduating students). The free celebration will offer cap decorating, gown steaming, professional photos, and a sendoff with food and games (held at various campus spots).  Penn State
  • The Penn State Educational Office Professionals group is collecting nominations for its 2026 Outstanding Office Professional Award, open until April 27 for PSU administrative staff from University Park and Commonwealth Campuses. Eligible nominees must have at least three years of University service.  Penn State
  • Penn State students produced videos and infographics in the first Green the Feed contest, hosted by the Sustainability Council of the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, to spotlight campus sustainability. Winning entries featured recycling, AI energy use and food waste and the contest will return in future years.  Penn State

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Penn State Transportation Services said that due to a new student housing construction at Lot 83, off-campus overnight parking will drop by 20% beginning this summer. Students living off campus should explore alternative parking options before the fall semester starts.  Penn State

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Penn State study led by Harold Lee shows that postmenopausal white women with high genetic risk for obesity regained weight twice as fast as those with lower risk + Black women's regain did not differ. The study involved women ages 50 to 79 on a low fat diet.  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State's longtime volleyball coach Mark Pavlik was named EIVA Coach of the Year after leading the Nittany Lions to a flawless 12-0 conference record and 20 wins overall this season. In his final year, Pavlik leaves behind a celebrated career with 694 wins — a historic legacy.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State men’s volleyball outside hitter Sean Harvey earned the EIVA Player of the Year honor after leading the team with double-digit kills in 21 matches — his efficiency helped secure a 12-0 conference record.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State softball beat Saint Francis 12-0 Tuesday evening as the team posted four home runs and shut out most hits. The Nittany Lions will travel to Champaign to face the Fighting Illini at 6 p.m. Friday, Apr. 24 + the game will be streamed on BTN+.  Onward State
  • Penn State basketball center Saša Ciani entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, April 21. The 6-foot-10 player from Slovenia (who played at Xavier, Illinois-Chicago, and Penn State and averaged 2.1 points this season) now seeks a new opportunity.  Onward State
