CULTURE NEWS

  • The Penn State Filipino Association held its annual Barrio Fiesta at Eisenhower Auditorium on April 19 to display Filipino culture through dances, music, and performances with a 'Stranded' island theme—featuring nine dance acts, speeches by club leaders, and a 60-second fundraising activity for the PUSO Foundation.  Daily Collegian

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A team of four Penn State Smeal College of Business students won the NASBITE International Student Case Competition earlier this month in Cleveland—beating teams from Bradley, Michigan State, Ohio State, University of Iowa, University of Maryland and Saint Louis University. They recommended entering the European market through Germany and manufacturing in Turkey as global tariffs rapidly changed.  Penn State
  • The Penn State Department of Geography will conclude its Coffee Hour series with Jessica Omukuti—a senior research fellow at Oxford Net Zero—speaking at noon on April 25 in 401 Steidle Building as she outlines the evolution of net zero policies and the need for equitable climate action.  Penn State
  • On April 21, Penn State’s Students Justice for Palestine installed a display titled 'Israel’s Genocide in Gaza' on the lawn in front of Pattee and Paterno Library, with sections showing refugee camps, bombed hospitals, and empty classrooms that reflect hardships in Gaza. The display featured art pieces, signs, and a large Palestinian flag—intended to remind onlookers of the ongoing conflict and spark debate over campus ties.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State launched a new Center of Excellence in Directed Energy to study focused energy like lasers or microwaves and train scientists and engineers. The center, a joint effort by the College of Engineering, ARL and MRI, will host kickoff meetings today and tomorrow in the ECoRE building — it aims to support national security technology and future innovations.  Penn State

  • The No. 3 seed Penn State men’s volleyball team will face the No. 6 seed Harvard in the first round of the EIVA Tournament at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Princeton — the winner will move on to the semifinals on Thursday.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State football will host the 2025 Blue-White Game on April 26 at West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium with free admission and a kickoff at 2 p.m. Due to construction, fans must use Gates A and E and follow new parking and seating plans—ensuring a game day with added events like a pregame autograph session and block party.  Penn State
