CULTURE NEWS

  • Happy Valley’s first Mojofest takes over Tussey Mountain Amphitheatre today from 2 to 10:30 p.m. and features two stages of live music, food trucks, and 40 vendors on shakedown street — free shuttles run nonstop between downtown State College and the venue.  StateCollege.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Maya Nehme, a Penn State alumna, inspired the INTAD program (which trains 30 to 40 grad students each year) and now directs the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative, managing over 120 projects and mentoring future leaders in sustainable agriculture.  Penn State
  • Penn State is hosting its 41st Annual Visual Arts Graduate Exhibition at the HUB Gallery (in the HUB-Robeson Center), displaying work by 10 graduate students from painting to new media. The exhibition runs from Mar. 27 through Apr. 26 and gives the community a chance to meet the artists.  Penn State
  • Penn State electrical engineering doctoral students Andy Huynh and Trevor Barrett won the Department of Defense SMART Scholarship, which funds tuition, a stipend, and internships at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque + a naval base in Point Mogu. They will advance research in antenna design and electromagnetics.  Penn State
  • Penn State kinesiology professor Lacy Alexander has been named president-elect of the American Physiological Society and will begin her term on April 26 after the APS annual meeting.  Penn State
  • Penn State’s Arthur W. Page Center announced 11 projects for its 2026 Page/Johnson Legacy Scholar Grants to study corporate social responsibility and advocacy. The grants support 26 scholars (from 15 universities) who will complete their research over the next year while updates are shared on the center's blog.  Penn State

  • Penn State women's basketball coach Tanisha Wright added Olivier Cadet as assistant coach and video coordinator on Thursday, April 17. He comes off three years at Georgia (where he led skill development and video analytics) before joining the team.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State Women’s Hockey picked up two transfers Friday morning by signing defenseman Ashley Kokavec and forward Alanna Devlin from Vermont and Boston College. The moves help strengthen the team’s roster after losing top players following a Frozen Four run.  Onward State
  • Penn State safety Zakee Wheatley, known as *Takeaway King*, earned top PFF grades with 222 tackles over his five-year college career. He has scheduled top-30 NFL visits with the Saints and Patriots and will watch from Maryland as his name is called.  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State men’s lacrosse beat Rutgers 16-8 today, with three players scoring hat tricks and Hunter Aquino netting four goals—crucial to the team’s final regular season win. The Nittany Lions will play next in the Big Ten tournament on Saturday, April 25.  Onward State
  • The Penn State women’s lacrosse team, coming off two losses, will face No. 22 Rutgers at 4:30 p.m. today in Piscataway, New Jersey to boost their postseason hopes. The Nittany Lions will use a balanced attack as Rutgers deals with goalkeeping shifts.  Daily Collegian
  • Owen Reilly, a three-star offensive lineman from Bel Air High School, committed to Penn State's 2027 class on Friday as he announced on Instagram. His role is expected to shift from tackle to guard when he joins the Nittany Lions.  StateCollege.com
