COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At THON 2025, Zeta Tau Alpha and Alpha Tau Omega—known as Zetaus—raised $529,003.97 and continued a 20-year trend of leading Greek fundraising by steadily increasing support; they also raised over $4 million in the past decade through donor drives and local events that strengthen their THON family bonds.  Onward State

  • VHS Skateshop relocated at the end of March to 244 E Calder Way near Way Fruit Farm and Town Pride. The new store has a screening room in the back — the owner plans events for the skate park set to open this fall.  Onward State

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Penn State School of Music will host the 35th annual Frühling Posaunen Festival on April 13. The festival will feature guest artists Tony Baker and Marshall Gilkes + top collegiate trombone choirs and finish with a grand finale mass ensemble performance + free admission at Recital Hall and Esber Rehearsal Hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Penn State

HEALTH NEWS

  • Five expert panelists discussed sexual health topics at the HUB-Robeson Center’s Lion’s Lair in University Park on April 8th, 2025, with the event moderated by the It’s On Us student group. They explained the difference between consent and coercion and offered advice on supporting survivors—aiming to reduce stigma and clear up misunderstandings.  Daily Collegian

SPORTS NEWS

  • Yesterday, Penn State beat Saint Francis 15-3 at Beard Field in their 49th matchup as the Nittany Lions tied a record with a double by sophomore Brooke Klosowicz and extended their lead with a two-run home run by junior Jenna Nelson—helping to drive their homestand forward. Coach Clarissa Crowell said the win added positive momentum for upcoming contests.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State defensive end Amin Vanover declared for the NFL Draft after the NCAA denied him another year of eligibility — he is expected to be chosen in a late round or sign as an undrafted free agent — as teams keep a close watch on his size and quickness.  Onward State
  • A drinking game is announced for fans as Penn State men’s hockey makes its first Frozen Four appearance. The game sets rules (such as taking two shots when the announcers mention this historic first) and specifies extra drink prompts for scoring and penalties while urging participants to drink responsibly.  Onward State
