- ➤ Penn State’s Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing earned its first national ranking for its Doctor of Nursing Practice program in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 evaluation. The college plans to launch a DNP-Nurse Educator program in Fall 2025 as it works to build on its academic strengths — investing in faculty, research, and clinical partnerships. Penn State
- ➤ On April 7, Uncensored America hosted the talk '¡Adiós Amigo!' with Myron Gaines— a former ICE agent and podcast host— in the Pike Auditorium at the Biobehavioral Health Building, drawing about 40 in-person viewers and nearly 80 online viewers. About 15 students protested outside the building, saying they disagreed with his remarks and opposed his presence on campus. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Zachary Rackovan, a former Penn State multimedia specialist who worked from home, filed a lawsuit alleging religious discrimination after he was fired on March 18 for refusing weekly COVID-19 tests despite an approved exemption—he argues that this policy forced him to compromise his religious beliefs and now seeks back pay and damages. - ➤ State College Area School District’s proposed 2025-26 budget shows a 4% real estate tax increase that adds 2 mills to the current rate to cover rising costs mainly from increased personnel and higher substitute teacher pay. The school board will vote on the proposal on April 21 and hold a public hearing on May 5 (the plan also includes adding six new positions to meet growing special education and academic needs). - ➤ The College of Education held its annual awards ceremony on April 7 at Robb Hall at the Hintz Family Alumni Center on University Park campus to honor faculty, staff and students for outstanding achievements over the past year. - ➤ On Jan. 13th, 2025, Nick Singleton announced his return for a final season of Penn State football just days after the loss to Notre Dame. - ➤ Penn State men's hockey will play Boston University tomorrow in the Frozen Four semifinals for a chance to reach its first national championship game. The team started the season with eight wins, nine losses and one tie but turned around by beating Maine, scoring four goals without reply — coach Guy Gadowsky said strong team spirit helped the players stay positive. - ➤ At Penn State spring practice yesterday—held with cold winds outside—receivers like freshman Koby Howard and Peter Gonzalez showed strong moves as the team readied for the Blue-White Game on April 26.
