- ➤ The Migration Studies Project hosts Writing in Displacement: Focus on Palestinian Writers on Friday, April 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the HUB-Robeson Center’s Heritage Hall at Penn State; the free event offers readings and a panel discussion with advance lunch registration required (details available locally). - ➤ Café Laura now shows a rotating exhibition of 2D artworks by 13 students from the College of Arts and Architecture thanks to a partnership with Penn State's School of Hospitality Management (supporting experiential learning). - ➤ The College of Engineering will honor 21 alumni with two awards at the State Theatre on April 9, recognizing outstanding professional achievements and early career success in areas such as health care plus AI. This combined ceremony marks the second year of the awards event. Penn State
- ➤ The Penn State Autonomous Robotics Competition Club is building a safe autonomous emergency response helicopter called Soteria Emergency Response Flyer for NASA-sponsored GoAERO, a three-year competition that will end with a final fly-off in 2027. - ➤ Penn State researchers have developed AI-based software designed to cut cooling energy use by up to 25+ percent. The team will present their work at the IEEE ITherm conference in May and plans to integrate the technology in Harrisburg’s Alerify data center later this year. Penn State
- ➤ The 'Moral Fragmentations and Boundaries' event, coordinated by Penn State professor Daryl Cameron, will take place April 19-20 at the Innovation Hub and via Zoom. - ➤ Penn State scientists developed a new AI method to fingerprint oak-derived tannins that influence wine flavor. Tests using French, Hungarian, and American oak chips show that French oak yields the highest concentrations (ellagitannins and gallotannins). Penn State
- ➤ Four Penn State faculty elected as AAAS fellows were recognized for their strong work in science, engineering, and math. They will be honored at a forum in Washington (they will receive a certificate and a special gold and blue pin) in May. Penn State
- ➤ Several landscape architecture faculty and one graduate student from the Stuckeman School at Penn State were recognized at the CELA 2026 conference in Cincinnati today. - ➤ Penn State men's hockey forward JJ Wiebusch entered the transfer portal on Monday, Apr. 6 + his linemates Charlie Cerrato and Matt DiMarsico announced plans to turn pro, leaving the team with a significant talent gap for the upcoming season. Onward State
- ➤ Despite dropping one spot in the Inside Lacrosse Poll, Penn State women's lacrosse defeated No. 25 Ohio State 18-9 in Columbus (last Sunday) with Kelly MacKinney scoring seven goals and Sydney Manning making 12 saves; they will face Oregon at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, at Panzer Stadium.
