COMMUNITY NEWS

  • THON announced its 2026 Executive Committee on Sunday afternoon as Executive Director Benjamin Roitman appointed 18 directors (an increase from last year) and created a Volunteer Logistics role while splitting Public Relations into Digital Content and Media Management.  Onward State

CRIME NEWS

  • Cherry, a dog thrown over the fence at Central PA Humane Society, needs hip surgery after a video from the end of March showed the act—charges against the dog’s owner are expected to be filed soon.  WTAJ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The R-VOICE Center is hosting Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month events throughout April with a free Zumba class starting today at Heritage Hall and a taco event on April 8 at the HUB. Additional events include an art exhibit on April 11, a survivor tribute on April 17 at the Palmer Museum of Art, and a Denim Day on April 23—details for the Men Against Violence Walk will be shared later.  Onward State

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources said summer will see nearly a 30 percent increase in campsite reservations compared to last year as more visitors book their spots. Trough Creek State Park along Raystown Lake saw an extraordinary 189 percent spike—other parks like Prince Gallitzin, Bald Eagle and Greenwood Furnace are also preparing for an influx of guests.  WTAJ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State Women’s Lacrosse defeated Ohio State 12-11 in sudden-death overtime last Sunday at Panzer Stadium after Payton Wainman scored the winning goal—now the team will host USC at 1 p.m. on April 13.  Onward State
  • Penn State men's lacrosse beat Michigan 11-8 on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor—The Nittany Lions overcame a one-goal deficit with a strong fourth-quarter run and will return home to face Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. inside Panzer Stadium.  Onward State
  • Penn State baseball beat Minnesota in a three game series—winning 10—4, 5—2, and 15—10 as the Nittany Lions showed strong play in every game. They will travel to Morgantown to face the Mountaineers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8.  Onward State
  • On Sunday, Penn State women’s lacrosse won 12-11 over Ohio State at Panzer Stadium with Wainman scoring an overtime golden goal that secured the win. The team built its three-match winning streak as it prepares for a home game against Southern California next Sunday at 1 p.m.  Daily Collegian
